At the time of this writing, the world has experienced some major disruptions due to an outbreak of a viral disease labeled “COVID-19”.   Apart from the loss of human life, there has been a much wider impact in terms of livelihood and economic stability.

Relevant to the readers of this blog has been the disruption of both formal and informal forms of education, or perhaps more specifically “schooling” (since education and schooling are not always to be understood as synonyms).

With the return to village forms, and home forms of education has been the global awareness that the increasing availability of internet access through mobile phones presents new challenges and opportunities for those committed to the cause of literacy, and particularly local language literacy.
